When Mary and her husband Mateus along with her two young boys, Appollo and Troy arrived at Australia with her parents Frank and Angela, they new their lives would change however the never anticipated the drastic shift that would cause so much distruptions in their lives. Twelve years after Cyprus witnessed the invasion of the Turks in 1974 which led to the displacing hundreds of thousands of Cypriots.

Everything was supposed to go well but as fate would have it that lives by permeated with discriminations, bully, social injustice and more. And when those things crept into the personal space it shifted every ounce of peace and stability out of the door. Beyond the ruins is a book based on true story that will strike a chord with each and every one of us.

This book was an amazing read. Yes it was heartbreaking but it also carried an emotional and resonating bond that is impossible to fathom. The author's explorative and captivating style of writing short off set a different and engaging pace that made me truly feel for the characters situations.

Every once in a while you come across books that you cannot help but requirement to every reader this is that book. I would highly recommend it to all readers.
