Amongst the chaos and mayhem, a group of young ex- pats started their own traditions clinging on to their idealism. The founders of the Rosebud Farm are trio - Kim Haskell, Rich Trapnell and Jeb Buck. This particular story navigates through the year 1973-74 and two of them. To thrive in the Australian land was not an easy feat however they were strong- willed. This book extensively explored disappearance and execution of Charlie Dean which were never really explored deeply however in this book we are given that understanding.

This book is an intriguing literary work that brings you to an era where you will learn about the hardships, challenges and unexpected trials as well as opportunities and ways to overcome them. There are excerpts from Rosebud Farm journal and other journals that give you an authentic touch of the events. 

As the title suggests it highlights both the idealism and tragedy on the Australian commune. Spending six months with Charlie in Australia, Harry Reynolds discovered and established the agrarian commune.
