Power in the Puff is the 2nd Book in the Jet black series. In the Previous book Jet Black: the prelude, the author talks about the injustice and discrimination served to them due their skin colour. 

In this book she talks about her challenges and struggles with her hairs and the inner power she found among the puffs and tresses of her hairs. 

She has Kinky, Curly hairs and getting them permanently straightened every month would cause her immense pain as she is a tender headed girl. 

Via these beautiful poetry she talks about the existential issues of racism and inequality that has affected many, which includes her personal experiences at school. 

She encourages women to own themselves, not letting the insecurities get to them and to not expect any validation or approval from society. 

She describes every woman's struggle with her hair on a daily basis with the flat irons, curling irons, conditioning, dyeing and perms through this short and melting poetry. 

What really resonated with me was when Bre addresses the women of color across the world to empower themselves and style their hair however they wish, she also emphasizes on equality and encourages women to speak up if you are being discriminated due to your skin color. 

I recommend this book to everyone,
