Masquerade Gold revolves around the mystery of the lost treasure of Alexander The Great. As the world powers try to acquire more wealth to establish themselves as the most powerful, marking the beginning of a cloak and dagger of Spies of the Allegiance consisting of both English and Dutch along with the Spanish hereditary sovereign.

It's the year 1553, The Spanish Empire have build themselves a reputation for being powerful. The Spies of Allegiance are there to sneak its way into the Spanish Monarch. We follow Bart Selona, disguise as a tutor, whose mission to probe and cross examine Giovanni de Tocco, a Genoese Banker.

With the assistance of his new recruits, Vincenzo Rossetti and Carlo, he believes it would be much easier to stop the prying eyes to wonder off as they are ultimately asked to pinpoint the exact location of three chambers of treasure which holds the treasure trove of the Spanish. As if this wasn't risky enough, they get under the suspicious eyes of Alvaro Cortez, the head of Spanish Security. Follow along the chase begins with a whirlwind of unexpected twists and turns.

An unique premise. I had no idea what was I getting into or how the plot was going to develop. I just knew that it was going to unexpected and that alone made me super excited to read the story. The story definitely took its time to explore all the characters and plot and I liked the way it was executed. The writing style and dialogues has a intriguing charm of historic fiction. I'm definitely looking forward to read the next book in the series.

I'd recommend this book to the historic fiction readers who also love to read stories with additional themes such spies, espionage and risque events along with engaging characters. Though this is the second book in the Gold Series trilogy, it can be read as standalone.

Thank you, Dion Mayne and Paul Richardson for giving me this opportunity to reading such a wonderful book of yours.
